This galaxy model was developed as an experiment in galaxy morphology
evolution and is based on a reverse view of galaxy evolution. This
model does not follow the traditional understanding of galaxy evolution.
The objective of this experiment was to create a simple model that
produced representative views of all of the Hubble sequence of galaxies.
View a Hubble
'tuning fork' diagram of ten galaxy types that were produced
by the generator.
Tips for viewing: Use the vertical and horizontal slider
bars to rotate or shift the galaxy axis. Click and drag the animation
to rotate it along and around the horizontal axis. The core spin
rate slider bar changes the release angle of the stellar material.
Set the axis to wobble to see what morphologies emerge. Higher rates
of speed create some forms that are reminiscent of elliptical galaxies.
Click the barred button and a bar will emerge. If the bar becomes
large enough, it will stop feeding the arms and the galaxy will
'die' into a ringed galaxy.
