Background

Fables and myths have long been a part of different cultures' ways of understanding their environment and history. This interactive fable employs the power of myth and the challenge of a quiz to help students begin learning about the natural history of the Great Sand Dunes.

Procedure

Students should first gain a general understanding of the ecology and geology of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. The Sand Sea Wonders section contains all the clues necessary to answer the questions in the Raven's Song fable.

Read the on-line fable and answer the questions at the bottom of each page in order to advance to the next part of the story.

If an answer is entered incorrectly, a "refresher" page will help the reader learn the correct answer and continue with the fable.
